About the artist

Art, it has been said is beauty and truth. The agonizing pain of life, truly expressed is its tragic truth. Life’s lilt, its elegance, its engaging stillness, captivating movement and vibrant color, is its beauty. Art is the senses tautly stretched on the canvas of human potential and impotence. Art heals through mitigating experience. It is an agent transforming our experience making it more palpable, deeper, more vibrant, or through catharsis breaking the full brunt of life’s pain. Though his formal training was in academia, his life has been dedicated to painting and sculpting for more than 40 years. His technique takes advantage of his training in meditation and Tai Chi to create a rapid gloss of his subconscious, whose product he then details with brush strokes. The images brought to light from the subconscious are archetypal. He now lives in Mexico but he was born in a rural Mennonite community in Canada. That upbringing brought him close to the importance of truth, Mexico, and its culture introduced him to value of beauty.
