Heike Pohl

About the Artist

The German artist, Heike Pohl, was born in Bern, Switzerland in 1990. She went to school in the USA and in Germany, where she graduated in 2010. In 2012, she gave up cultural studies and moved from Berlin to Bucharest with her partner.  After working for many years as an autodidact artist, she began to study art professionally at the National University of Art, Bucharest (UNARTE). Her teachers where the well-known expressionist Mihai Sirbulescu and glass artist Dan Popovici.

Since 2016 Heike Pohl is a freelancer artist. Her artwork are shown throughout Bucharest’s Fine Art Galleries, in the Museum of Art in Ramnicu Vulcea, and in Galat. In 2017, she moved to Munich with her two young children. Here she started holistic medical studies. She also continued to form a unique style of art, experimenting with concepts from figurative and abstract art in her own studio. By the end of 2019, she returned to the public with her website. She will show more of her eye-catching pieces in a series of international exhibitions in 2020.

Her life and work are inspired by her personal and multicultural experiences, and her family history. The theosophical and medical studies of her grandfathers and the holistic lifestyle of her grandmother influence her up to this day, as she tends to a wide field of interests. The great art collection of her ancestor Karl Ströher has a large variety of artistic influences on her, all of which flow into her extraordinary creations and ideas. We are very curious to see where this emerging artist, who has only just begun forming her career, is heading to.
