Monir Abbasi
About the artist
The Iranian artist Monir Abbasi was born in Tehran in 1967 and now she lives in Hamburg. In early childhood her father discovered her talent and enrolled her in an art-oriented school. After high school for some years she took private lessons with one of the most renowned Iranian artists, Asad Niazi. Numerous exhibitions and participating in some master circles followed this period. She won two national and several regional competitions. For another five years she worked very successfully in a well-known studio in Tehran. She continued to evolve and her penchant for realism was complemented by an interest in shapes and patterns, which inspired her to accept a job as a senior designer in a Persian textile factory. In 1993 she traveled to Germany. Today she works as a painter in Hamburg in the scope of photorealism, concreteness and abstraction.
